Christ the Redeemer is perhaps the most contested of the current world wonders. People often feel that, yes, the statue is a very beautiful image, and yes it is impressive. However, many argue that it is the view around the statue that is so impressive. It isn’t the statue itself but rather the city of Rio de Janeiro.
There is little arguing the fact, however, that the view from Christ the Redeemer isn’t impressive. It is one of the most incredible vistas in the entire world. From the top one looks down on not only a beautiful city but a coastline as remarkable as anywhere in the world. Golden coastal sands form a transition between where the sea and the city join. Out on the distance there are tall rolling mountains that push from the sea floor adding to the character of the view at hand. Christ the Redeemer might not be an all too viable world wonder, but the truth is the entire city could be one.
